Molton Salt Bath of various compositions is available to cover temperature range 150-1320°C. This method offers a number of advantages over alternative processes. Treated parts have a clean, bright, scale-free finish and soft surface ( decarburization) can be completely eliminated. The circulation of molten salt provides a constant temperature throughout the charge giving accurate temperature control and uniform results. The rapid rate of heat transfer by the bath enables a high output to be from a relatively small furnace. Moreover, highly personnel are not operating the salt bath process.
FRANK 720 is usually used with FRANK REGENERATOR as a neutral salt which is free
FRANK 660 / FRANK REGENERATOR for Pre Heating; FRANK 970 / FRANK HSX for heating to the hardening
FRANK 540 is used at a temperature of 500-600°C for quenching parts previously heated in the FRANK HSX bath.
Martempering and Austempering are processes involving quenching in molten salts instead of oil.
FRANK 650 is used for annealing low carbon, medium or even high carbon steel wire at temperature up to 720°C.
FRANK 330 is a single salt mixture suitable for preparing a Nitrate / Nitrite salt bath for use at 480-635°C for solution treatment
After the bath is completely solidified the wedges are taken out by tapping with a hammer. The vents remaining open will permit the escape of the gases on remelting.
All heat treatment salts are packed in 25 kg HDPE bags with an inner Polythene liner for the domestic market and Fibre drum packing for Exports.
For the purpose of easy identification and also to avoid the accidental mixing of High-Speed salts with tempering salts are tinted as below:
