FRANK PHOS FZ-2

INTRODUCTION :
FRANK PHOS FZ-2 is a chemical intended for accelerated hot dip process, which produces medium to heavy zinc iron phosphate coatings on steel.

PROTECTION AGAINST CORROSION :
FRANK PHOS FZ-2 protects Iron and steel surface against rusting and prevents rust creep under the paint film should the film become broken.

EXCELLENT WEAR RESISITANCE :
Frank Phos FZ-2 heavy weight coating form strongly adherent coatings, which have excellent, wear resistance and retain the lubricant during cold working.

IMPROVED COLD WORKING :
FRANK PHOS FZ-2 heavy weight coatings have high lubricant absorptive properties and when lubricated with FRANK LUBE FL-1 reduce friction between the tools and work, increase tool life and minimizes metal pick-up. These are specially recommended for cold heading and cold extrusions.

EASY OPERATION :
FRANK PHOS FZ-2 is easy to operate and is controlled by simple tests requiring no special chemical knowledge. No fumes or odours are given off.

OPERATION SUMMARY :
BATH MAKE UP : 4 – 5 litres of FRANK PHOS FZ-2
POINTAGE : 25 – 35
FERROOUS CONCENTRATION : 0.05 – 0.4%
TEMPERATURE : 80°C - 90°C
IMMERSION TIME : 5 – 10 minutes.

PROCESS SEQUENCE :
1.Clean
2.Rinse
3.Pickle
4.Dip FRANK PHOS FZ-2.
5.Rinse
6.Dip in hot FRANK LUBE FL-1 bath.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
Surface to be treated with FRANK PHOS FZ-2 must be free from oil, dirt and grease, Remove any Oil or grease present with FRANK MOVES followed by thorough rinsing.

Remove any scale or rust present by treatment with FRANK DINE followed by thorough rinsing.

BATH CONROL :
The FRANK PHOS FZ-2 is controlled by a points titration done as follows.
a) Pipette 10 ml of bath solution into a conical flask.
b) Add about 50 ml distilled water and 6 to 8 drops of Phenolphthalein indicator.
c) Titrate with 0.1N Sodium hydroxide solution until a permanent pink colour is obtained.
d) The number of mls of 0.1N sodium hydroxide used in the points of the bath.

REPLENISHMENT :
Add 200 ml of FRANK PHOS FZ-2 to every 100 litres bath to raise the points by one.
Normally a bath points of 25 is optimum but a higher or a lower points may be required because of local line conditions, wherever a portion of the bath is discarded or lost by sludge removal or leakage the volume should be restored with the same proportion of FRANK PHOS FZ-2 and water used in the original bath.

AFTER TREATMENT :
After the work has been coated with FRANK PHOS FZ-2 it should be thoroughly rinsed with water and then be rinses with a hot ( 70°C - 90°C ) neutralizing rinse. The neutralizing rinse is made up with 0.1 kg of FRANK NEUTRALISER per 100 litres bath. After the work has been rinsed it is immersed in a hot solution of FRANK LUBE FL-1.

LUBRICATION :
FRANK PHOS FZ-2 coatings are themselves not lubricative and must be coated with FRANK LUBE FL-1. Details of FRANK LUBE FL-1 will be made available on request.

HANDLING PRECAUTIONS :
FRANK PHOS FZ-2 is slightly acidic and clothing should be protected if there is any possibility of splashing with the solution. Wash off any splashes at once with cold water. If the solution gets in the eyes wash out with liberal quantities of water and obtain immediate Medical attention.
